Loker Surakarta – PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia, people's Bank(BRI) is one of the largest government-owned bank inIndonesia. At first the Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) established in Purwokerto, Central Java by Raden Aria Wirjaatmadja with the name Bei De Hulp enSpaarbank der Poerwokertosche Inlandsche Hoofden[1] or "Bank Deposits belonging to the aid and ThePriyayi Purwokerto", a financial institution that serves the people and Indonesia (native). The institution stood on 16 December 1895, which then serve as theday of birth of BRI.

History: The period following the independence of INDONESIA, based on Government Regulation No. 1of 1946 article 1 stated that the Bank is as BRI was the first in the Republic of Indonesia. In the war ofindependence in 1948, the activities of BRI stuck for a while and just getting active again after the Renville Agreement in 1949 and changed its name to Bank Rakyat Indonesia States. At that time through a PERPUNo. 41 in 1960 established Farmers and fishermen Cooperative Bank (BKTN) which is a fusion of the BRI, Bank fishermen and Peasants Nederlandsche Maatschappij (NHM). Then based on the determination of President (Penpres) No. 9 of 1965,BKTN is integrated into Bank Indonesia Bank Indonesia under the name farmer's and fishermen's cooperative Affairs.

After walking for a month, came out Penpres No. 17 in 1965 about the formation of a single bank under the name of Bank Negara Indonesia. In the new conditions, Bank Indonesia Affairs of cooperatives, Farmers and fishermen (ex BKTN) is integrated with the name of Bank Negara Indonesia unit II Rural areas, while the NHM became Bank Negara Indonesia unit IIExport-Import field (Exim). By law No. 14 of 1967 concerning Basic Banking legislation and laws No. 13 in 1968 about the Central Bank law, which essentially restored the function ofBank Indonesia as the Central Bank and the Bank Negara Indonesia Unit II Export and Import Rular Field separated each into two Banks, namely Bank Rakyat Indonesia and Bank Indonesia import export. Furthermore under the laws No. 21 1968 reassign tasks as public bank BRI staple.

Since 1 August 1992 on Banking Law No. 7 of 1992and the Government of Indonesia Regulation No. 21of 1992 status of BRI is transformed into a limited liability company. BRI ownership it was still 100% in the hands of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia. In 2003, the Government of Indonesia decided to sell a 30% stake in the bank, so that it becomes a public company with the official name of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk., which is still used up to this point.
