Profile PT. Indonesia Chemical Alumina
Based on the results of exploration undertaken by PT. Antam (Persero) Tbk, around Licences there are sources of the mineral bauxite with an adequate number and quality for a long term period for more than 20 years to be processed into Chemical Grade Alumina (CGA). PT. The ICA is the industry pioneer of CGA in Indonesia and the fifth country in the Asia Pacific region other than Japan, China, Korea, and Australia to process bauxite into chemical grade alumina. PT. ICA is also a precursor to meet Indonesia ACT Minerba for processing raw materials in the country. It could be a trigger for alumina-based industry in Indonesia in the future.
Chemical Grade Alumina (CGA) generally refers to the chemical products in the form of aluminum hydroxide and alumina used for industrial aluminum. Aluminium hydroxide is a semi-finished product which can be used in water purification. While the alumina can be used to produce electronic materials supporting components. Some of the products that use the CGA includes refractoriness, abrasive, building products, Integrated Circuit (IC) as well as materials for LCD screens.
The project will cultivate Tayan CGA backup bauxite Antam in Tayan, Sanggau, Kalimantan Barat, Indonesia produces 300,000 tonnes of chemical grade alumina per year. The products will be exported to the CGA Japan and other countries and also to be sold to the domestic market in Indonesia.
Tayan in alumina processing is planned to be able to produce chemical grade alumina capacity swith products from 300,000 metric tons per year of Al2O3 (alumina) basis, using the Bayer process bauxite ore into heal for alumina products. The Bayer process involves three stages of continuous dissolving process (Liquor Clarification Process), the process of Deposition and kalsinasi process.
Products CGA Tayan will be supplied to a wide range of industries that use alumina to produce detergents, paper, cement, water treatment, refractoriness, abrasip, polishing, ceramic, glass and others. Our factory will manufacture Tayan CGA over 100 types of hydrate alumina and alumina products.
To produce this product, the production process in Tayan will be done in the factory based on the architecture of the "Bayer Process technology owned by Showa Denko KK, Japan which has a long-term experience of over 70 years of age operating a factory in Yokohama. Special Alumina processing is done by grinding, mixing, processing and more. All products are arepackaged in a paper bag, jumbo bag and bulk, stored in warehouses before being sent to market. Transporting these products will be done by barge from the port of Pontianak Tayan and loaded onto a ship for the purpose required.
The construction project was estimated for 38 Tayan CGA month commissioning phase and during the 6 months after commercial operations in the second quarter of 2014.
