Loker Surakarta – PT Sarana Multi Infrastructure (Persero), 2013 Infrastructure continues to be an exciting year for PT Sarana Multi infrastructure (Persero) ("PT SMI"), marked with a list of achievements in the three pillars of our business: financing, infrastructure Advisory and project preparation.
During the first half of this year, our infrastructure financing activities managed to register a total of Rp2.7 trillion in financing for power plants, toll roads and toll bridges, drinking water sector and ports across the nation. Our line of business project preparation also reported positive developments in the two projects showcase, Soekarno Hatta Airport – train and Umbulan clean water projects, in which we continue to play an important role in making this project a success. Further, our involvement in the Batam City facilitates the management of solid waste PPP Projectis well recognized by key stake holders, where the ADBhas agreed to extend its commitment to stage a fullfeasibility study. Finally, our new business ventures in the advisory began collecting interests of the infrastructure industry, making steady progress to become an important part of PT SMI.
We continue to build strategic partnerships with reputable international institutions, a real proof of the company's market visibility as a credible, trusted partner in the infrastructure development in Indonesia. Among the highlights, in June 2013, we signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korea Development Bank (KDB) to encourage collaboration and exchange of knowledge about infrastructure development, as a follow-up to the cooperation between the Government of Indonesia and the Government of Korea. In July 2013, SMI and PT Bank of Tokyo – Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd (BTMU) signed a memorandum of understanding on Mutual cooperation in business, combining the power of both institutions to give greater support to infrastructure development.
As we enter the second half by 2013, the country entered a period of challenging marked by the weakening of the Rupiah and the high inflation that comes from a combination of external and internalfactors.
Despite the uncertainty, we remain confident the prospect of continuing strong growth in the long term. Based on a recent report published by the World Economics Forum, In donesia was ranked 38th in the world's most competitive countries from rank 50 the previous year, an increase that is enough due inter aliato encourage progress in the infrastructure development of the country.
This was supported by a positive long-term prospects of Indonesia, the set of achievements presented the company and the full support of all the stake holders and other parties, I believe that the SMI can continue to provide significant advances forward.
