Changes to the business activities of Islamic commercial banks be BSB was confirmed by the Governor of Bank Indonesia through DECISION LETTERNo. BI Governor 1/24/KEP.BI/1999, 25 October 1999. Furthermore, through the decision letter of the SeniorDeputy Governor of Bank Indonesia No.1/1/KEP.DGS/1999, approved the change of name to BI PT Bank Syariah Mandiri. Following the confirmationof the legal recognition, and PT Bank Syariah Mandiri officially started operation since Monday 25th Rajab 1420 H or November 1, 1999.
